Each vehicle has its pros and cons, including power, cargo capacity, and ability to navigate even the roughest of landscapes.

Choosing the right vehicle for the job should ensure a safe passage to your final destination. If, however, the journey does go a bit south, how can you recover your vehicle to carry on to your objective?

If you find yourself stuck out in the field, there are a number of ways to potentially rescue yourself.

First, there’s using the winch with the help of nearby trees. You can connect the winch that comes with your vehicle to any tree still in the ground, as well as some fallen branches on the ground. Using this method, you can then haul your vehicle free through a mix of winching and throttling the engine.

This method works best when stuck in mud or deep water, but can also be used if your vehicle has toppled over or is balanced precariously on the edge of a cliff. If there are no nearby trees, then you can also attach the winch to a ground anchor, or use a screw jack to upright your vehicle if necessary.

If winching or jacking your vehicle is no longer an option, either due to a lack of organic winch points or the absence of jacks, you can also use another truck to help free your stricken vehicle.

If all else fails, then the best option is to return to the expedition menu, however, this will reset your progress in your current mission so this should be saved as a last resort.
