F1 2021 Driver ratings updates: Red Bull & Ferrari upgraded, Gasly, Stroll & Bottas nerfed

Update 1.14 has been rolled out for F1 2021 across all systems now. This update is a large one which has included the 2021 Formula 2 season. Something else that has changed are the Formula 1 drivers' ratings. Codemasters update these several times a season and have done so again ahead of the final round in Abu Dhabi.

So, which drivers have gotten a boost to their stats and who has been dealt a final blow before the end of 2021? We've got everything you need to know right here!

Red Bull gives you upgrades

Both of Red Bull's drivers have received upgrades ahead of the season finale. Max Verstappen has been boosted to 93 overall, with Sergio Perez up to 87 overall. Verstappen may have failed to win the previous three rounds, but his consistency has been enough to impress Codemasters to put him one overall point behind Sir Lewis Hamilton.

Sergio Perez finally seems to be getting into the swing of things at Red Bull too. He became the first Mexican driver to stand on the podium in his home race and put up an excellent defence against Hamilton in Brazil. Checo is now up to 87 overall, which is still below the likes of Alonso, Bottas and Gasly.

Speaking of Pierre Gasly, he's been downgraded again, this time to 88 overall. That's very harsh in our opinion, as the AlphaTauri driver has been one of the standout performers in 2021.

      The Prancing horses

From bulls to horses, Codies seem to be a fan of teams with four-legged animals on their logos. Ferrari have all-but sealed third place in the constructor's championship, a very impressive improvement over their dismal 2020 season. Their drivers have been key to this, and Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz have both been increased to 89 as a result.

      Mixed fortunes for Aston

It's been a trying season for Aston Martin in F1 in 2021. Their car has been impressive on occasion, but has usually failed to score points. Codies don't think that's down to Sebastian Vettel's lack of pace though, as the four-time champion has been increased to 90 overall.

However, they seemingly don't have much faith in Lance Stroll. The Canadian has been downgraded to 82 overall, despite an excellent drive to 6th place in Qatar:

          Bye bye Bottas

The bigger you are, the harder you fall. A rating in excess of 90 is a very hard one to maintain in the official Formula 1 game. That shows with Valtteri Bottas, as he bows out of Mercedes with a 90 overall.

Looking at his results shows why the Finn has been downgraded. A lacklustre sixth in the USA, a retirement in Qatar and a poor 15th in Mexico aren't results you can put a positive spin on.
