F1 22 Has Been Delisted From Online Stores

As the old saying goes, as one door closes, another opens. In video gaming that saying changes too as one game is announced, another is delisted. That seems to be the case with F1 22 anyway, as F1 24's announcement has led to its two-year predecessor being delisted from online stores.

Throwback racing

F1 22 seems like it only launched yesterday, but we’re coming up to two years since the racer hit the market. At the time, the game was criticised for its tricky handling and lack of innovation, but since then opinions have changed.

Whether or not this is because the follow-up game added little other than a better handling system and the addition of F1 World, we can’t say for sure. But there are fans out there with F1 22 rose-tinted glasses.

Maybe they miss hopping into a supercar for a lap around the track in the Pirelli Hotlap, or maybe they enjoy the challenge the wacky handling provided. Either way, we have some bad news for those looking for some throwback racing.

With the announcement of F1 24, EA used the reveal as a distraction. Fans trying to buy F1 22 at a cheaper price have now discovered that the game has been quietly delisted from the Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox stores less than two years after it was released in July 2022. You can also no longer buy it directly on EA's website.

This isn’t new for the F1 series. When a new game is announced, the title that came two years before is usually delisted - this was the case with F1 2021 when F1 23 was announced.

This also isn’t the only EA game that’s recently been delisted, with a wide range of EA titles having their online services shut down.

In EA’s racing catalogue, F1 2011 - F1 2014, along with F1 Race Stars, will all be shut down on 21 March 2024. This is along with F1 2020 being removed from EA Play on 15 March.

Speaking of EA Play, F1 22 is still available to play through EA’s online subscription service according to the Xbox store listing, but we don’t know how much longer this will be the case at the time of writing.
