With just over one month to go until F1 22 races off the line, Codemasters’ and EA’s teaser campaign is shifting into high gear. After the announcement trailer left a lot to be desired with no gameplay footage, Codemasters has released hot lap videos giving us a tour of the Miami and Spain circuits.
More will be revealed tomorrow in a new F1 22 Features Trailer premiering online on 31 May. This should give us our best look yet at this year’s F1 game. What can we expect to see?
First look at F1 Life and supercars?
One of the most F1 22’s most intriguing and polarising features is F1 Life. This new mode lets you personalise your hub shown in multiplayer lobbies, buy clothing for your driver avatar, and show off your swanky collection of supercars and trophies to envious players.
Despite being highly publicised, F1 Life still hasn’t been shown – not even in screenshots. With just over a month until release, this is Codemasters’ chance to show off F1 22’s headline feature and convince players it’s more than just a gimmick.
For the first time in the series, F1 22 will also feature driveable supercars. We saw a brief glimpse of the McLaren 720S speeding around a corner at the end of the Miami Grand Prix reveal trailer, but we haven’t seen how the new Pirelli Hot Laps mode works.
Inspired by the real-world Pirelli Hot Laps where F1 drivers take celebrities around the track in high-performance supercars and scare them senseless, this new mode will showcase F1 22’s supercars with time attack, checkpoint, and time trial challenges. Hopefully, the new trailer will give us a better idea of what F1 22’s supercars are like to drive.
The F1 22 Features trailer will also likely offer a first look at the revamped My Teams mode and adaptive AI system.
Release date
The F1 22 release date is fast approaching. F1 22 will be released on 1 July on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. Preordering the Champions Edition lets players access F1 22 three days early on 28 June.
