The first F1 24 gameplay trailer has landed, giving us a first glimpse at how the game will look and sound this year. With upgraded graphics, new audio features, and incredible action, let’s take a look at the F1 24 gameplay trailer.

Breakthrough visuals

Despite sticking to the EGO engine for this year, F1 24's visuals have been upgraded compared to F1 23. Lighting, shadows, and reflections have received an overhaul, making every circuit better looking than ever before.

This is all thanks to the breakthrough Dynamic Diffuse Global Illumination software being used for F1 24. This brings out the best of the game even though it utilizes the same engine as F1 2015 nearly ten years ago.

The gameplay trailer also gives us our first proper look at the 2024 F1 cars. We have seen them already in previous trailers and deep dives, but this is the first time we’ve seen them in all their glory, and they look incredible.

Using precise CAD modeling software, each car has been carefully modeled to represent its real-world counterpart as closely as possible. This means when players hit the track, they’ll be driving some of the most accurate digital recreations of F1 cars ever seen.

Finally, the trailer shows off three of the four overhauled tracks coming in F1 24. Silverstone, Spa, and Qatar are all seen in their new appearances, with each now more closely matching the real-world circuit. Updating tracks was a big request from fans, so this should go down well amongst the community.

The sound of racing

The gameplay trailer also gives players their first taste of the new radio messages coming in F1 24. This year features real driver voice-overs, with sound bites taken from actual F1 TV broadcasts. This gives one of the most immersive audio experiences seen in an F1 title.

Drivers can now react on the radio to incidents on track, botched pit stops, and, of course, grabbing that exciting win. Being able to hear the driver you’re controlling react to events during a race is a whole new experience for fans of the F1 series.

Final deep dive coming next week

We’ve already had a look at both the physics & handling and Career Mode deep dives, but there’s still one more to come before F1 24 arrives in the paddock.

May 7 sees the final deep dive land, showing off the final new features coming to the game. We don’t yet fully know what that deep dive will include, but if it follows the line of the previous two, then fans should start getting excited.

With an overhauled Career Mode joining a new physics and handling system developed in collaboration with three-time world champion Max Verstappen, F1 24 is shaping up to be one of the best entries in the series to date. Here’s hoping when the lights go out, F1 24 is ready to take the F1 world by storm.

F1 24 launches on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on May 31. Players who preorder the Champions Edition of the game can hit the grid from May 28 with three days of early access.
