F1 Manager 2022: New Features Focus video looks at facilities, sponsors, & finances

With the launch of F1 Manager 2022 just over one month away, Frontier Developments has released a new Features Focus video; this time focusing on facilities, sponsors, and finances.

The latest video arrives not long after we were treated to a behind-the-scenes look at F1 Manager 2022’s impressive face-scanning technology featuring Williams’ Alexander Albon and Alfa Romeo’s Zhou Guanyu.

Facilities

Decisions you make as a Team Principal in F1 Manager 2022 off the track are just as crucial as decisions you make on the track in a heated race. From investing in facilities that improve your team’s performance to securing sponsorship deals that generate income, there's a lot to juggle.

Facilities you control in F1 Manager 2022 are split into three areas: Car Development, Staff, and Operations. Multiple facilities can be built in each area, each with a running monthly cost.

Car development facilities include buildings and tools for upgrading cars such as a design centre and wind tunnel. Staff facilities include a race simulator for drivers and a Scouting Department to hunt for new driving talent. Operations facilities, on the other hand, affect cash flow and your team image with hospitality and tour centres.

Every facility can be upgraded multiple times to improve its effectiveness. For example, upgrading the Design Centre can increase the capacity of engineers to improve your team’s performance, while upgrading the Helipad increases sponsorship payouts.

Regular refurbishments also optimise facilities, but these come at a cost. It’s up to you to prioritise which facilities to focus on, whether it’s car development or staff.

Sponsorships

Managing sponsorships in F1 Manager 2022 will also be crucial for success. Your team’s status will determine the value of sponsorship offers. At the start of each season, you’ll control the terms of your sponsorships and obligations as well as adjust the sponsorship targets for race weekends.

While sponsorships can generate income, they also take up resources. For example, hosting a sponsor event in the pit box can distract your pit crew, reducing their performance.

Finances

Of course, investing in facility upgrades and sponsorship deals affects your budget, which is shown in detailed breakdowns displaying your income, outgoings, and balance.

Keeping an eye on your finances will keep your board happy - failing to meet mid-season and end-of-season performance targets can result in your contact being terminated.

The level of depth and detail showed in the video is simply mind-boggling.
