F1 Manager 2023 is out now in early access and it improves on its predecessor in several ways. From more competitive AI management to deeper cost cap challenges, this year's F1 management sim is a big step forward.
That said, it very much looks and feels the same as last year's title. This will leave some fans frustrated, but the improvements warrant an upgrade. You can read our full review here.
F1 Manager 2023 release date
Last year's debut title arrived in late August and included five days of early access for digital pre-orders. This was almost two months after the release of Codemasters' F1 22. It's a similar pattern this year.
F1 Manager 2023 releases on 31 July. The game will be available on Xbox One & Series X|S, PS4 & PS5, and PC. However, this release date will be for digital purchasing only. Physical copies for consoles will be out later than this.
There is also a Deluxe Edition for F1 Manager 2023. Pre-ordering the Deluxe Edition gives you four days of early access starting on 27 July.
In addition, the Deluxe Edition also comes with an exclusive Scenarios Pack for unique challenges and gameplay opportunities.
As for the price, F1 Manager 2023 costs Ā£44.99/$54.99/ā¬54.99 on every platform, while the Deluxe Edition will set you back at Ā£54.99/$64.99/ā¬64.99.
Staff guides
Once you step into the shoes of Team Principal, you'll want to hire the right staff members to take your team to the top. Some teams, like Red Bull, Ferrari, and Mercedes, already have very good staff members but others can certainly be improved on.
You will need a Technical Chief, a Head of Aerodynamics, two Race Engineers, and a Sporting Director to help drive your team to glory. The Sporting Director is new this year and manages the training and focus of your pitstop crew.
You can check out our tips on which ones to hire below:
Driver ratings
You'll need three drivers in total - one for each car plus a reserve. F2 and F3 are also simulated in the background this year.
To give you an idea of the best drivers you should hire, you can find the full F1 Manager 2023 driver ratings here. We've also compiled a list of the best young drivers should you want to make an immediate switch to your lineup.
New features
From a new member of staff to in-race improvements and the addition of sprint races to junior formula changes and deeper development strategies, F1 Manager 2023 is a step forward for the series.
One of the best new additions is the F1 Replay mode. Available outside your main save, Race Replay will set up Grands Prix using the real qualifying results and let you take control of any team. That means you can fix Ferrari's strategy or rescue the poor qualifying performance of your favourite driver.
But there's more. There's also a scenario mode, dropping you into a team mid-way through the race and giving you a target to achieve. Again these will echo real-world events, letting you prove your superiority!
