The FIA is looking to muscle in on the world of sim racing. Per a report from Esports Insider, the global governing body of world motorsport is looking for game developers to partner with on an Olympics Esports Games project.

The aim is to "create a platform" with the intention of featuring in the 2025 Olympic Esports Games.

Thankfully, the FIA is open to adapting existing titles, not just creating a new one with this partner. That means the likes of iRacing or the upcoming Assetto Corsa Evo could step in and ensure this runs smoothly.

The worst-case scenario is that the FIA finds a different partner and makes a new title, trying to split the existing community with the lure of Olympic gold.

The sim racing world is small, with players pretty entrenched in their titles and specialties. Titles like Le Mans Ultimate and Rennsport have tried to carve out a space for themselves and largely failed, but a route to an Olympic gold could pull drivers like Jarno Opmeer, Frede Rasmussen, and Sebastian Job in and where they go a casual audience could well follow.
