Two New Real-World Circuits

The main attraction in the Gran Turismo 7 Spec III update is the addition of two legendary Formula 1 circuits:

  • Yas Marina Circuit (Abu Dhabi)—The first-ever Middle Eastern track to appear in the series.
  • Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve (Canada)—The second Canadian circuit in GT7 after the fictional Lake Louise.

Both these tracks have full-scale racing facilities that host Formula 1 races. While the Canadian circuit features one layout, it’s still unclear how many of Yas Marina’s five real-world configurations will be available in the game.

Eight New Cars - The Biggest Drop Yet

Spec III adds the most vehicles in Gran Turismo 7’s history, with eight new cars. As of now, only four have been revealed:

  • Ferrari 296 GT3—A fan favorite making its debut.
  • PD Special F1 Car—Inspired by early 1990s Benetton models.
  • Mitsubishi FTO GP Version R—A classic returning to the series.
  • Mine’s a Skyline GT-R V-Spec N1—Another iconic tuner car making a comeback.

This easily surpasses Spec II’s seven-car edition and is sure to excite the GT7 community.

One of the most requested changes by players: The Collector Level Cap is finally arriving. Garages worth more than 100,000,000 credits will now be able to exceed the former Level 50 cap, which required ownership of 10% of the car list’s value.

Permanent Invitations to Buy Rare Cars

Another long-standing frustration for GT7 players has been the limited-time car invitations. Spec III introduces permanent invitations, meaning you won’t need to rely on random drops and expiration timers to purchase rare vehicles like Porsche or Ferrari models.

Enhanced Weekly Challenges

Additionally, Weekly Challenges, which were initially introduced in Spec II, are being upgraded. Players currently receive five races every week, including one Special Event and four World Circuit Races. Spec III adds:

  • Time trial events
  • Mission Challenge events

The teaser shows a new time trial on a short section of Brands Hatch and a fresh mission challenge, hinting at more new missions on the way.

New Seasonal Menu Book

A new “Seasonal Menu” is being introduced. While there aren’t many details, it might be a dynamic event system connected to seasonal race styles.

Return of the Data Logger

Fans of GT6 will be thrilled to see the return of the Data Logger, allowing players to compare lap data such as speed, throttle, brake, position, engine speed, and G-force traces between two cars. This feature is perfect for hot lap enthusiasts and serious racers looking to shave seconds off their times.

New Dunlop Tires and Physics Adjustments

GT 7’s tire model is also set to evolve in Spec III. The game’s physics model will adjust to fresh tire data due to recent collaboration with Dunlop, which could alter how cars behave on the track.

Online Race Improvements

While details are yet unknown, Spec III promises improvements to online races. It’s unclear if this entails improved matchmaking, new race types, or stability enhancements.

More Scapes and a New Opening Movie

Spec III rounds off its feature list with new Scapes locations for photography enthusiasts and a brand-new opening movie to refresh the game’s presentation.

Release Window

There isn’t any exact date announced for the update, but it’s set for December 2025, likely aligning with the Gran Turismo World Final in Fukuoka on December 20-21. If Polyphony Digital sticks to tradition, players could see a Christmas Day rollout.
