Following last week’s teaser, Polyphony has revealed what players can expect in Gran Turismo 7 update 1.36. Launching next week, the Gran Turismo 7 August update will add four new cars including a Japanese ambulance and a historic American sports car.
There’s also a special livery to celebrate the release of the Gran Turismo movie plus new GT Café Menu Books and Scapes photo locations.
4 new cars coming to Gran Turismo 7
Four new cars are coming to Gran Turismo 7 in the August update. Headlining update 1.36 is the Maserati MC20 '20. Aside from The Crew 2, GT7 will be the only console racing game that lets you drive Maserati’s halo sports car.
Under the bonnet is a twin-turbo V6 engine producing 621 horsepower, which is sent to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Joining the MC20 is the Toyota GR Corolla MORIZO Edition '22, Chevrolet Corvette (C1) '58, and the Toyota Ambulance Himedic '21. That’s right, you can drive an ambulance in GT7.
However, this unusual addition to GT7’s vehicle roster won’t be available to buy in Brand Central to buy until late September. You can, however, get early access to Himedic by entering the World Series Showdown Viewers Gift Campaign.
Whereas the Maserati MC20 and Toyota GR Corolla MORIZO Edition should be available to buy in Brand Central, the C1 Corvette will likely only be sold at the Legends Car Dealership for a limited time and cost an absurd amount of money.
What else does Gran Turismo 7 update 1.36 include?
In addition to the four new cars, Gran Turismo 7 update 1.36 includes a livery inspired by the design of the Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 in the Gran Turismo Movie. You can apply the livery when purchasing the Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 '18 from Brand Central.
The Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 ’18 can also be redeemed for a limited time between 7 August and 28 September. To redeem it, select the promotional panel on the upper right of the World Map screen.
In the UK, Gran Turismo will hit cinemas on 9 August. Due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, the film is delayed in the US until 25 August.
Three Extra Menus will also be added to the GT Café:
- [Extra Menu No. 26] Collection: Maserati (Collector Level 40 and above)
- [Extra Menu No. 27] Collection: Aston Martin (Collector Level 44 and above)
- [Extra Menu No. 28] Collection: Kei cars (Collector Level 27 and above)
Finally, a new Fire Station will be added to Scapes. It seems to be based on a real-life fire station in Fukuoka, Japan.
Release date
With no update in July, we were hoping for a substantial update in August with more content other than the usual cars and GT Café Menus. Polyphony hasn’t added any new tracks since Grand Valley Speedway in February and has remained silent about GT Sophy’s development.
Nevertheless, the update could still surprise us when it drops on Monday 7 August. GT7’s updates usually arrive in the morning around 8 am BST, so we’ll have to wait for patch notes to see if there are any other significant changes and quality-of-life improvements.
