Is F1 24 going to be on Xbox One? Racing gamers who are still using last-gen hardware like the Xbox One will be wondering exactly that ahead of the 2024 Formula 1 game being released.
F1 24 has been officially revealed and while there is still a lot unknown about the game, we know which systems it will be on.
So, did the old Xbox One make the cut? Let's take a look!
Overhauled Career Mode
F1 24's official reveal trailer has landed, and with it comes the highly-anticipated news regarding the game's Career Mode. Players can now 'Be one of the 20', filling the racing boots of one of the existing drivers on the grid, a first for the series.
Players who don't want to take on the role of an existing F1 driver can create own driver, or instead begin as an up-and-coming F2 driver or even as one of the legendary F1 Icons.
As well as this, a new handling dynamic will be in F1 24. Developed in collaboration with three-time world champion and EA Sports ambassador Max Verstappen, this new handling model will make the cars feel even more authentic to drive.
Is F1 24 on Xbox One?
The Xbox One is now over ten years old, raising questions if it's still up to the challenge of running new games. Surprisingly, though, the Xbox One has held its own. Last year, EA Sports WRC skipped the last-gen consoles, but F1 23 still came to Xbox One.
New games are still being released on the Xbox One, partly because it has a significantly larger player base than the Series X|S. For comparison, the One has sold over 50 million units, while the Series X|S has only sold 20 million.
EA Sports likely had those figures in mind when deciding whether to include the old-gen hardware because F1 24 will be released on Xbox One. So, if you haven't upgraded to a Series X|S yet, you don't need to in order to play F1 24!
Despite not having the same specs as the Series X|S, the Xbox One can play games with impressive clarity. F1 24 should play in 1080p full HD and 30fps on the original Xbox One.
If you have an Xbox One S or X model, you'll be able to play F1 24 in 4K UHD and a frame rate of between 30 and 60. This, of course, depends on the specs of your TV or monitor, too. Xbox Series X owners, on the other hand, will get to enjoy F1 24 at a higher resolution and framerate of 4K and 60fps.
F1 24 Price
Just like everything else, video games have gotten a lot more expensive in recent years. So, with that in mind, has F1 24's price increased further from F1 23?
If you choose to pre-purchase the game on the Microsoft Store, you'll be able to play on both Xbox One and Series X|S. So, if you upgrade to next-gen before F1 25 comes out, you won't need to re-purchase the game.
That means there's no discount for Xbox One players compared to Series X|S, at least with a digital copy.
The Standard version of F1 24 is currently available to pre-order for £69.99 in the UK and comes with 5,000 PitCoin and an F1 World Starter Pack.
The Champions Edition on Xbox is currently available to buy for £89.99 on the pre-order market in the UK. Prices and retailers can vary depending on which country/ territory you're based in.
So, the prices as they stand are the same as last year, but there are a few ways to save. EA Play subscribers will get a 10% discount on both versions of the game.
Loyalty also pays too, as players who own F1 2021, F1 22 or F1 23 will receive a 15% discount for F1 24 Champions Edition, bringing the price down to £75.49.
F1 24 Release Date and Trailer
F1 24 will launch worldwide earlier than normal on 31 May. This is the release date for all console systems, including both Xbox consoles.
If you pre-order the Champions Edition of the game, you'll get three days of early access from 28 May. This will be in addition to the 18,000 PitCoin you'll earn for F1 World.
