Assetto Corsa 2 Receives New Title

The highly-anticipated sequel to Assetto Corsa is right around the corner, but as it turns out there has still been time for one last surprise reveal for players. With everyone anticipating Assetto Corsa 2 to be an evolution from the original, that will now be reflected in the game’s title, too.

Evolved racing

Assetto Corsa 2 is set to build upon the incredible foundations laid by its predecessor nearly ten years ago. Running on the same but improved engine as the original, AC2 moves away from the Unreal Engine used by spin-off title Assetto Corsa Competizione.

The game will also differ from ACC in that it will feature more cars than just GT racers. Although the full track and car lists are yet to be confirmed, we expect both to feature cars and circuits from the original, with possible new entries too.

Assetto Corsa 2 was originally set to launch in Spring 2024, but this has since been pushed back to Summer instead. This is for the PC version of the game, with console players forced to wait even longer to get behind the wheel.

As for the game’s title, that's now been confirmed as being changed too. For players predicting Assetto Corsa 2 to be an evolution from the original, that’s now reflected in the new title.

Assetto Corsa 2 to be called Assetto Corsa Evo

Eagle-eyed sim racers have used the latest DLC in Assetto Corsa Competizione to reveal the new title for Assetto Corsa 2.

QR codes dotted around the new Nurburgring circuit, part of the Nurburgring 24hr Pack DLC in ACC, take players to a website showing Assetto Corsa 2’s new title will be Assetto Corsa Evo.

Some players are already speculating this means the game’s full title could be Assetto Corsa Evoluzione, reflecting the series’ progression since the original released in 2014. This was teased by Kunos Simulizioni in an interview the studio gave last month, where they stated that AC2 is “not just a sequel”.

AC2, or ACE to give it its new name, is set to hit Early Access later this year. Only then will players be able to experience the true evolution of both the Assetto Corsa series, and sim racing itself.
