Rocket League Racing is out now, but how do you drift around corners? In an arcade racer like Rocket Racing, you'll need to drift around turns to be quick and get around the competition.

After many rumours, Rocket Racing was confirmed as an extension of Fortnite recently. The game is a lot of fun and like all racing games, there are a lot of tricks and moves you can use to beat your rivals.

Here's everything you need to know about drifting in Rocket Racing!

Rocket League Racing: How to Drift

Drifting is key to winning races in Rocket Racing. Not only does it allow you to take corners faster, but it also gives you boost, which you can use to go faster when you get back on to the straights.

There are a lot of ways to get an edge over the competition, such as nailing the start line boost. Drifting is one of the most fundamental ways to be quick in Rocket Racing, though. But how do you start and chain drifting?

To drift in a corner, you need to move the left stick in the direction you want to drift (either left or right) and press the handbrake, which is "X" on Xbox or "Square" on PlayStation.

Drifting is something you should do often when going around corners, particularly tight ones. It means that you never really have to use the foot brake in Rocket Racing, when used right.

Drifting tips

Once you've practiced drifting in Rocket Racing, you'll need to perfect it in order to regularly make the top step of the podium. Here are our main tips around drifting in Rocket Racing.

Firstly, you need to make sure you don't start drifting too early. Most racing games that have drifting require you to start drifting way before the corner, but Rocket Racing requires you to start drifting pretty much at the start of the turn.

Doing so any earlier will send you into the inside barriers and cost you a lot of time. This is one that's really important to practice, as it's difficult to explain the point when you should hit the handbrake.

Drifting fills up your turbo boost, which are the three bars on the left of the HUD. Once one of these bars is full, press "Y" on Xbox or "Triangle" on PS to activate it for a prolonged boost.

When you use these boosts is up to you, but doing so on as straight a section of track as possible is advisable.

Double drifting can also bail you out if you're going wide at a corner. If you think you're going to slide into the barriers on the outside of the track, press the drift button again to take a sharper angle through the bend.
