Since Forza Motorsport was shown off at the Xbox Developer Direct back in January, Turn 10 has been quiet about the much-anticipated sim racer due to arrive this year. Fans are desperate for news on Forza Motorsport after the release window changed from Spring 2023 to a vague 2023.
Now, Turn 10 has broken the silence and released a brief update about Forza Motorsport, giving us a clearer idea of the release window.
Forza Motorsport on track for release “later this year”
In a blog post detailing the Forza Horizon 5 High Performance Series starting this week, Turn 10 explained that Forza Motorsport is in the “polishing” phase of development and on track for release “later this year.”
“While we're focused on polishing and preparing Forza Motorsport for release later this year, we’re still keen to hear your feature and track requests, we can keep in mind what you want to see most for the future,” the post reads.
This suggests Turn 10 is busy optimising the game after promising a “generational leap” in fidelity.
If all goes well, we'll likely get a fresh glimpse of Forza Motorsport in action and find out the release date at Micrisoft's 2023 Xbox Games Showcase on 11 June.
Originally, Forza Motorsport was targeting a Spring 2023 release window, but Spring was removed and replaced with a vague 2023 window during the Developer Direct, leaving fans perplexed.
Turn 10’s update follows a rumour from VentureBeat’s Jeff Grubb, who claimed that Forza Motorsport is reportedly delayed until the second half of 2023.
Cars removed from launch lineup
The update comes after Forza Motorsport was marred in controversy back in March. Forza Motorsport will launch with over 500 cars, but several were mysteriously removed from the launch car list.
These include racecars such as the 2018 Audi #44 R8 LMS GT3, 2021 Cadillac #31 Whelen Racing DPi-V.R, 2019 Ginetta #6 Team LNT Ginetta G60-LT-P1.
Turn 10 hasn’t said why these cars were moved, but it’s likely due to licensing issues or they could be released as post-launch DLC.
