The 2023 Formula 1 season is being dominated by Red Bull, so fans are desperately asking when does F1 23 come out so they can change things! Codemasters is hard at work refining the latest entry in their successful F1 franchise, with a closed beta currently running, providing some playtesting and feedback.
We now have plenty of details about F1 23 as it has been officially announced. This includes EXACTLY when you can play!
Latest news - Handling overhaul for F1 23
F1 23's reveal has finally arrived, and the biggest takeaway is that Codemasters is bringing a lot of changes to its handling & physics.
Codies attempts to take the Formula 1 championship and create a realistic yet accessible video game. That may seem like an impossibility, but they have tread a very careful balance over the last few years to come good with the games.
After a learning curve with the new regulations last year, Codies has upgraded the handling for F1 23. New vehicle physics will give the cars better traction when braking, accelerating, and cornering, with new handling upgrades providing more predictable behaviour.
This is combined with new Precision Drive technology that will help pad-players keep up with those on wheel by allowing for better control and confidence.
When does F1 23 come out?
We finally have the first F1 23 details including the release date.
The official F1 23 release date is set for 16 June. This is the earliest Codemasters has ever been able to get an F1 game out, which is awesome to see.
Of course, there will be three days early access for those that buy the digital-only Champions Edition of the game.
That means players can hop in and go racing from 13 June if they are willing to pay a little more.
Those that do get the Champions Edition will also receive:
- Time-limited Las Vegas content (for pre-orders before 31 May)
- Max Verstappen Race Wear Pack
- Braking Point 2 Icons and Vanity Item Pack
- Dual Entitlement (for Xbox & PS players)
- Four new My Team Icons
- An XP Boost
- F1® World Bumper Pack
- 18,000 PitCoins
F1 23 new features
F1 23 will see the return of the Braking Point story mode. F1 2021's protagonist Aiden Jackson will team up with F1's biggest villain Devon Butler at the newly announced Konnersport Racing team. What awaits within we don't know, but we can't wait to find out!
Along with all that a new safety rating will overhaul online play and encourage better driving standards. Both Las Vegas and Losail tracks will be in the game from launch, along with the returning Portimao, Shanghai, and Paul Ricard circuits.
