Wreckfest has been a smash hit since it rolled onto Steam in 2018 following an extended stint in Early Access.
Bugbear’s spectacular banger was ported to PS4 and Xbox One in 2019 before receiving next-gen ports. Completing the console lineup, Wreckfest is smashing its way onto Nintendo Switch in June.
Wreckfest Nintendo Switch pre-orders
Those who want to enjoy some vehicular mayhem on the go are in luck. THQ has announced that digital pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch version are live on the Nintendo eShop.
Releasing on 21 June, the Switch version of Wreckfest can be pre-ordered for £34.99/$39.99/€39.99. For collectors, a physical retail version will also be available on 21 July for £34.99.
Season packs
BugBear’s post-release support for Wreckfest has been exceptional. Multiple seasons have added new cars, while free updates regularly add free tracks and tournament challenges. Thankfully, Nintendo Switch owners won’t miss out on this extra content as two season packs will be sold separately.
For the Switch game, two seasons will be available to buy. Retailing for £11.99/$14.99/€14.99, the Season 1 pack includes 20 vehicles, 20 roof decorations, and a car customisation pack with new armour, rims, and other add-ons. Additionally, the Season 2 pack includes 12 extra cars for £9.99/$12.99/€12.99.
Nintendo Switch pre-order trailer
To celebrate pre-orders going live, a new trailer shows the Switch version in action. Despite all the carnage and trackside physics objects, Wreckfest looks remarkably smooth on the Switch, running at a smooth 30fps.
This is a downgrade over the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions, which run at 4K and 60fps. Online multiplayer is also capped at 12 players instead of 24. But these compromises will be worth it when you can play Wreckfest on Nintendo’s handheld system wherever you go.
