The Crew Motorfest raced onto PC and consoles back in September to positive reviews and encouraging launch sales. But with no significant updates since then, players are clamouring for new content after finishing the themed Playlists.
Fear not, however, because The Crew Motorfest Season 2 is just around the corner. While we already know the next season will have a Hoonigan theme, it could be a larger update than we expected.
The Crew Motorfest map expansion teased for Season 2
The Crew Motorfest centres around a vibrant festival on the island of Oahu celebrating car culture. This is the same setting as the original Test Drive Unlimited, which many staff at Ivory Tower helped develop.
While the location is more richly detailed, some players were disappointed with the smaller map. With massive recreations of the entire US to explore, the scale of the first two games was staggering. Motorfest’s island is minuscule by comparison. Thankfully, the map is seemingly being expanded in Season 2.
An image shared on the official The Crew Motorfest social media pages shows a new map area beyond the coast. Ivory Tower teases this will be the location of a Hoonigan building landmark but no other details were shared.
It seems that Season 2 will add a small island outside the main map to explore, likely filled with stunt tracks, drift zones, and opportunities to burn rubber.
What else can we expect in The Crew Motorfest Season 2?
We’ve known for a while that The Crew Motorfest Season 2 will have a Hoonigan theme. Founded by the late Ken Block, Hoonigan is best known for the Gymkhana video series where Ken Block would perform tyre-shredding stunts in wild custom cars. These viral videos are a staple of car culture watched by millions.
Ken Block was tragically killed in a snowmobile accident at the start of 2023, but the final Gymkhana video, dubbed Electrikhana Two, filmed late last year just a few weeks before his death is set to air in December. This could coincide with The Crew Motorfest Season 2’s start date in early December.
Electrikhana Two will star Block’s insane Audi S1 Hoonitron, powered by two electric motors producing a combined 1,400 hp. With Electrikhana Two releasing around the same time, the Audi S1 Hoonitron will likely be one of the star cars in The Crew Motorfest Season 2.
As for other cars coming in Season 2, the Hoonicorn RTR Mustang from Gymkhana Seven can be seen in a brief teaser video. Notably, the Hoonigan RTR also features in Forza Horizon 5, drawing more comparisons between the rival open-world racers.
We expect other classic Hoonigan creations like the bonkers 914-hp Hoonitruck from Climbkhana Two will also appear in Season 2.
The Crew Motorfest Season 2 release date
The Crew Motorfest Season 2 kicks off on 6 December. With the release date confirmed, Season 2 should be revealed soon so sit tight. After that, Season 3 will begin sometime in February according to Ubisoft’s roadmap.
