Codemasters’ annual F1 series is set to return this year. F1 23 hasn't been announced yet, but its reveal appears to be just around the corner.
Ahead of the opening Bahrain Grand Prix this weekend, EA Sports has teased F1 23 on social media for the first time, hinting at a "fresh start" for this year's entry.
F1 23 teased for the first time
A teaser image shared on the official F1 game Twitter page shows the side profile of a 2023 F1 car render with the following caption: “New season, fresh start.”
No other details were shared, but the teaser suggests an official reveal is coming soon.
F1 22 was revealed last April before releasing in July last year, but the teaser may suggest an earlier reveal than last year’s game sometime this month. We could get our first look at F1 23 in a few days in an announcement trailer.
F1 22 introduced the divisive F1 Life mode with driveable supercars, customisable player spaces, and microtransactions for clothing items.
For F1 23, Codemasters’ is teasing a “fresh start” for the series, hinting at radical changes for this year's title. This could mean F1 23 will be overhauled with a new graphics and physics engine.
Considering that F1 games have utilised the same engine for years, F1 23 could finally be the next-gen upgrade we’ve been waiting for.
The return of Breaking Point is also expected to be one of F1 23's headline features, either continuing the story of Aiden Jackson or introducing new characters.
There are also two new tracks in the 2023 season: Losail International Circuit and Las Vegas Street Circuit.
With F1 23 representing the 2023 F1 season, it's safe to assume these tracks will be replicated in the game. However, they may not be ready for the game on day one and added post-launch instead.
F1 23 release date
There’s no F1 23 release date yet. We were originally expecting F1 23 to release in early July like F1 22, but the early teaser suggests F1 23 will be released earlier, possibly in June. We’ll find out soon when F1 23 is officially revealed.
In the meantime, you can find out three features we want to see in F1 23.
