With just two months to go until the release of F1 2021, Codemasters and EA have unveiled some details about the seven iconic drivers that will feature in the new game.
Arriving as part of the Deluxe Edition, these drivers will be available to hire in My Team, and they are sure to be popular!
F1 2021 Icons
These seven historical drivers will be available for use in MyTeam, are a not all the obvious names we considered earlier this year.
It's a carefully crafted three-tiered group that will provide My Team players with some tricky financial considerations to make.
All their stats have been revealed too, so let's take a look at who they are!
Michael Schumacher
The F1 2020 Deluxe Edition cover star and seven-time World Drivers' Champion was a clear must-have Icon for Codemasters.
Michael Schumacher hits F1 2021 with a 94 overall rating.
With a massive 98 experience, 96 pace, 93 racecraft, and 92 awareness he will be an absolutely rapid and nearly flawless driver.
Of course that is reflected in his $13m price tag, putting him out of reach for your My Team save for Season 1 at least.
Ayrton Senna
The Brazilian genius was a natural pick for these Icons. After all he is almost everyone's pick for the Greatest of All Time.
Senna's 94 overall matches Schumacher, but he has higher racecraft (97) and awareness (96) than the German, while his pace (94) and experience (79) is lower.
Senna's $12m price is lofty too, but clearly worth it.
Alain Prost
You can't have Senna without Prost. The two featured heavily in F1 2019, and their rivalry looks like it will continue into F1 2021.
The Professor hits the game with a 93 overall rating, a hair lower than Senna's.
His 94 pace is the same as his great rivals though. He also comes with 93 racefraft, 92 awareness, and 85 experience.
At $11m he is the in the elite tier of driver you will have to work hard to afford in My Team.
Jenson Button
The silky smooth skills of 2009 Champ Jenson Button are next up.
JB lands in F1 2021 with a 90 overall rating.
That is made up of a huge 98 experience, 95 awareness, and 94 racecraft. His 85 pace is a little low, but he makes up for it everywhere else. He'll cost $6m and should be affordable relatively quickly.
Nico Rosberg
Who else wishes Rosberg was still in F1?
The 2016 champion has a 89 overall rating.
That comes with 91 awareness, 89 racecraft, 88 pace, and 86 experience. With a salary of $6m he is in the same tier as Jenson Button.
David Coulthard
I don't think DC was on anyone's shortlist for F1 2021 Icons, but the driver-turned-presenter is here.
Coulthard comes armed with an 87 overall rating and a strong set of stats.
He has 91 experience, 91 racecraft, 86 awareness, and 86 pace. That with a $4m salary makes him a good pick for your My Team save.
Felipe Massa
The oh-so-nearly 2008 champion Felipe Massa is the final Icon for F1 2021.
The Brazilian has an 86 overall rating that comes with 94 experience, 88 racecraft, 86 awareness, and 85 pace.
He's likely to be the guy most people start with in My Team.
