With the 2024 F1 season almost underway, players are eagerly waiting for news on Codemasters’ next F1 game expected to launch this year. F1 24 has yet to be announced, but we may not have to wait long according to a reliable leaker. If this rumour is true, F1 24 will arrive earlier than F1 23 and F1 22.

F1 24 release date leaks

F1 24 will be released on 31 May 2024, according to reliable leaker billbil-kun. That’s earlier than usual for the series, with F1 23 and F1 22 releasing on 16 June and 1 July respectively. The move signals a desire to release the F1 games closer in line with the real-world season.

Like F1 23, those who pre-order the F1 24 Champions Edition will reportedly get three days of early access from 28 May. Furthermore, EA Play subscribers will get a free ten-hour trial from 28 May according to the leaker.

F1 24 announcement is “imminent”

F1 24’s announcement is said to be “imminent,” with the leaker pinpointing 27 February as the reveal date. If true, we’ll get our first look at Codemasters’ F1 game in just over a week.

F1 23 was announced on 3 May last year, so this is much earlier than expected. It's plausible, however, as this would coincide with the opening 2024 Bahrain Grand Prix next weekend.

Unlike F1 23, pre-orders for F1 24 are expected to start soon after the announcement and will include an unknown livery pack.

Pricing is expected to match F1 23 at £59.99/€69.99/$69.99 for the Standard Edition and £79.99/€89.99/$89.99 for the Champions Edition on PC. As for consoles, the Standard Edition is expected to cost £69.99/€79.99//$69.99, while the Champions Edition is expected to cost £89.99/€99.99/$89.99. It’s a stark contrast to EA Sports WRC, which launched at a lower price last year.

The leaker didn’t confirm if F1 24 will be released on PS4 and Xbox One, but last year’s game launched on the last-gen consoles so it’s certainly possible. PSVR 2 support is also unconfirmed.

Codemasters hasn’t confirmed these rumours, but billbil-kun is usually reliable, having correctly revealed F1 23’s release date and named EA Sports WRC ahead of official announcements.

What can we expect in F1 24?

As for what to expect from F1 24, nothing is known yet. With no driver or track changes in the 2024 season, it will be interesting to see how F1 24 pushes the series forward. Fans are hoping for Career Mode and My Team upgrades after F1 23 focused on Braking Point and F1 Life.

Codemasters' F1 games have run on the studio's in-house EGO engine since F1 2010, so switching to a new graphics and physics engine to take advantage of the current-gen consoles seems like the next logical step. EA Sports WRC also switched to Unreal Engine last year, but different Codemasters teams handle the WRC and F1 series.
