The latest trailer for Season 6 has dropped, and it definitely brings the action.

We even get a hint as to how Daniel Ricciardo made his triumphant return to Formula 1, along with a not-so-subtle nod towards Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes departure.

Drive to Survive Season 6 promises to be the best one yet, with the trailer revealing all we have to look forward to.

It's no exaggeration to say that Drive to Survive has revolutionised both sports documentaries and the sport of Formula 1 itself. Since DTS was launched in 2018, there have been similar series for golf, tennis, cycling and even wrestling.

Netflix has made a huge success out of DTS and despite criticism from some corners about the authenticity of the series, there can be no doubt it has plenty of drama and insight with each episode.

DTS has been instrumental in growing Formula 1 in markets where it's traditionally struggled, most notably in the United States.

The US F1 audience has ballooned since DTS Season 1, and has meant that there are now three American-based Grands Prix on the calendar these days.

What to Expect

Drive to Survive Season 6 will follow the 2023 Formula 1 season. We expect there to be ten episodes, each between 40 and 60 minutes long with their own story from the 2023 campaign covered in it.

We don't have a confirmed episode list yet, but taking a closer look at the teaser trailer has given us a sneak peak of what to expect.

Here are some of the themes we think will feature prominently in Season 6:

  • Lance Stroll's pre-season injury and struggle to get in the car for Bahrain.
  • Nyck de Vries' sacking from AlphaTauri.
  • McLaren's poor start to the season and comeback.
  • The chaos behind the scenes at Alpine, including Otmar Szafnauer's sacking.
  • The teammate dynamic between Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon.
  • Haas' struggles throughout the season, including Gunther Steiner's dismissal.
  • Max Verstappen's record-breaking season.
  • Logan Sargeant's rookie season.
  • George Russell's difficult year at Mercedes.
  • Daniel Ricciardo's F1 return.

We'll no doubt see more storylines hinted at in the launch trailer in a few weeks' time. We'll take a guess at what these could be:

We also expect to see some sort of cameo of Sir Lewis Hamilton going to Ferrari for the 2025 season.

However, given that's still not going to happen for around a year, we may have to wait until Season 7 next year.

Where to watch

As always, the only place to catch Drive to Survive is Netflix. You'll need to be a Netflix subscriber to catch DTS, as this is a Netflix-original series. DTS won't be shown on any TV channel.

Prices and subscription models vary depending on which country/ territory you're watching in.

Release Date

All episodes of Drive to Survive Season 6 will be available to stream worldwide on 23 February 2024. This is the same day that pre-season testing in Bahrain concludes and before the 2024 season gets underway in Sakhir.
