Forza Motorsport Gameplay Footage Shows Off Mugello Circuit

With Forza Motorsport fast approaching, new gameplay footage has emerged from the Gamescom 2023 event.

Taken off-screen, the video shows Forza Motorsport pushing the graphical capabilities of the Xbox Series X. Notably, the footage also gives us a first look at a recently announced track in Forza Motorsport.

Mugello Circuit shown off in Forza Motorsport gameplay

Shared by YouTube channel Racing at Home, the off-screen gameplay footage showcases the Audi RS 5 racing around the Mugello Circuit. The Italian track was quietly announced by Turn 10 earlier this week alongside the Nurburgring GP, but this is the first time we've seen the circuit in-game.

Located in Tuscany, Italy, Mugello has featured in Forza Motorsport 2, 3, and 7, so its inclusion in the new Forza Motorsport isn’t too surprising. Visually, Forza Motorsport has come a long way as the lighting has improved significantly in the latest gameplay video.

With Forza Motorsport just over a month away from release, the footage is likely based on a near-final build of the game. The footage also demonstrates Forza Motorsport’s new Car Mastery system, where you’ll earn XP for taking the best racing lines on corners and overtaking opponents.

As you earn XP and level up, you’ll unlock upgrades for your car. This means you’ll still earn rewards even if you don’t finish a race in first place.

No Nurburgring Nordschleife at launch

With Mugello now confirmed, we now know 17 out of the 20 tracks Forza Motorsport will feature at launch. Turn 10 recently confirmed that the Nurburgring GP will be available at launch but the full Nurburgring Nordschleife won't. Instead, the Nordschleife will be added in Spring 2024, with Turn 10 planning monthly content updates after launch.

Known as the Green Hell, the fan-favourite Nurburgring Nordschleife is one of the world’s most famous and demanding race tracks. Having featured in every game since Forza Motorsport 3, it's a staple of the series, so it's a shame it won't be part of Forza Motorsport's launch track list.

Turn 10 is building every track from the ground up. With 154 corners, the Nordschleife is a complex circuit, which may explain the delay.

Forza Motorsport is out on 10 October for Xbox Series X|S and PC. Players who pre-order the Premium Edition will get five days of early access on PC and Xbox Series X|S starting on 5 October.
