As we approach the end of the month, series creator Kazunori Yamauchi has confirmed a new batch of cars is coming to Gran Turismo 7 in update 1.48 this week. It promises to be a bumper update with five new cars instead of the usual three.

As usual, Yamauchi has shared each car’s silhouette in an animation on his X, formerly Twitter, page, inviting fans to guess their identities.

5 new cars coming to Gran Turismo 7 this week

While the cars are hidden in shadows, fans have already figured out their identities. The car on the bottom left appears to be the Honda NSX racer from Japan’s JGTC series.

Last seen in Gran Turismo 6, Honda’s JGTC racer will seemingly be returning to the series for the first time in ten years. Most Gran Turismo fans will recognize its iconic Castrol Mugen livery. Next to it on the bottom right appears to be another Honda, with fans speculating it’s a fifth-generation Honda Civic EG.

There’s no shortage of Nissan Skylines in Gran Turismo 7’s car roster, but that hasn’t stopped Polyphony Digital from adding another one. Above the NSX JTC appears to be an R31-generation Nissan Skyline GTS-R.

After a long hiatus, Volvo is seemingly returning to Gran Turismo this week. The car at the top has the distinctive shape of a Volvo 240. This will not only mark Gran Turismo 7’s first estate car but also the first time the Swedish manufacturer has featured in a Gran Turismo game since Gran Turismo 6. As it’s been out of production since the early 1990s, the Volvo 240 will almost certainly be sold at the Used Car dealership.

This may not be the only Volvo included in update 1.48, as the final car next to the 240 Estate looks like a Volvo V40 hatchback. This will most likely be the T5 variant, which is powered by a 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine.

Update 1.48 out this week

Gran Turismo 7 players are used to updates rolling out on the last Thursday of the month, and this trend looks set to continue with update 1.48. Alongside the car teasers, Yamauchi confirmed that Gran Turismo 1.48 will be available this week, most likely on May 30.

No other details have been confirmed beyond the car teasers. It’s not clear yet if update 1.48 will answer players’ prayers by adding new cars, but we can likely expect some new Menu Books, World Circuit events, and Scape locations.
