Mario Kart Tour has been providing mobile karting fun for four years now, but the next tour will be the last new content coming to the game. Nintendo has announced that Mario Kart Tour will soon no longer receive any new content.
Mario Kart Tour to receive no further new content
Nintendo has announced that the next Tour on Mario Kart Tour, starting 20 September, will be the last new Tour to come to the game. Named the anniversary tour, this tour commemorates the fourth anniversary of the game’s release.
From 4 October, all further tours will comprise existing content within the game. Mario Kart Tour will remain fully playable, with content recycled for future events.
In an in-game message shared by Twitter user OatmealDome, Nintendo has also confirmed that no new courses, drivers, karts, or gliders will be added to the game following the battle tour on 4 October.
One last tour
The Anniversary Tour marks the end of new content coming to Mario Kart Tour. Initially released in September 2019, Mario Kart Tour quickly became one of Nintendo’s most successful mobile games.
Released exclusively on Android and iOS, Mario Kart Tour has recently seen content developed simultaneously with the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass. With the Booster Course Pass wrapping up by the end of the year, it seems Nintendo has decided to bring both games to a close.
Mario Kart Tour is one of only a handful of Nintendo mobile games still supported. Super Mario Run, Fire Emblem Heroes, and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp are the other Nintendo mobile titles still available to play today.
Mario Kart 9 wishlist
With the development of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe drawing to a close, attention now switches to Mario Kart 9 rumoured the Nintendo Switch's successor. Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe did a great job bringing the best of the karting Italian plumber to our living rooms, but that doesn’t mean it was perfect.
