Need for Speed Unbound Vol. 4 Celebrates 75 Years of Porsche

Following yesterday’s teaser, EA has revealed the Need for Speed Unbound Vol. 4 update. As expected, the next NFS Unbound celebrates Porsche’s 75th anniversary, adding new cars, Gauntlet Playlists, Boosted events, and Speed Pass challenges.

Here’s what you can expect in the Need for Speed Unbound Vol. 4 update.

New cars

To celebrate the anniversary, two Porsche cars are coming to NFS Unbound in the Vol. 4 update as Speed Pass rewards. Reaching Speed Pass rank 50 unlocks the 1997 Legendary Custom Porsche 911 Carrera S (1997). Finish it three times, and you’ll earn the fully electric 2022 Porsche Taycan Turbo S.

In addition, Vol. 4’s Speed Pass offers 75 free customisation options to kit out your player avatar with.

As a bonus, Need for Speed Heat players will receive a free 1994 McLaren F1 in their garages. EA Play subscribers can get the electric neon 25th Anniversary Legendary Custom Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4.

Modified versions of existing cars can also be bought in premium DLC packs. Hip Hop Origin Swag Pack includes the Legendary Custom Mercedes-AMG G 63 (2017), which celebrates the origins of Hip Hop. Meanwhile, the Lotus Exige S Legendary Custom Pack hands you the keys to a custom Lotus Exige S with a custom body kit and livery.

Finally, the Vol. 4 Customs Pack features cars from previous Need for Speed games including Eddie’s Nissan Skyline GT-R V·spec (1993) from Underground, Rachel’s Nissan 350Z (2008) from Underground 2, and Joe’s Polestar 1 (2020) from Heat.

New Linkup Areas

Another highlight of the Need for Speed Unbound Vol. 4 update is the new Linkup Areas. There are seven new Linkup locations where up to 16 players can meet up and complete challenges, including the Kennedy Test Track and Griffith Construction. To save time, you can also quick route to Linkup locations.

As you cruise, some Playlists and Linkups will become Boosted for a limited time, allowing you to earn extra rewards and boost your Bank balance. Returning players will also find 50 new Daily and 39 Weekly challenges to help build your bank, plus 15 new one-shot challenges.

Release date

Need for Speed Vol.4 will release next week on 16 August. With only two Porsche cars celebrating the manufacturer's 75th anniversary and no major new multiplayer modes, it looks like another disappointing update after the two-month wait.

Unbound's Vol.4 also includes a range of bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements - you can find out more in the patch notes here.
