With its vibrant visuals, incredible soundtrack, and fast-paced gameplay, Horizon Chase (or Horizon Chase Turbo on consoles) is one of the most popular and acclaimed arcade racers on modern systems.

A sequel, Horizon Chase 2, arrived in August 2022 as an Apple Arcade exclusive before being ported to Nintendo Switch and PC last September. A PlayStation and Xbox release was slated for Spring 2024, but there has been no confirmed release date - until now.

We don't have to wait long now because Horizon Chase 2 is heading to PlayStation and Xbox later this month.

Publisher Epic Games has confirmed that Horizon Chase 2 will launch on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One on May 30 from 7 am EST / 12 pm BST. The retro arcade-style racer will retail for $24.99 / €24.99 (UK pricing is still to be confirmed), with a 20% discount available on all platforms for the first two weeks.

The PlayStation and Xbox versions will support crossplay for Nintendo Switch and PC via Epic Games, so players can race together on all platforms.

Horizon Chase 2’s new World Tour sees players race across 66 tracks around the world in six new locations including Bangko, Japan, and the Amazon rainforest, with a retro 3D art style and an infectious soundtrack from the legendary Top Gear (or Top Racer as it’s now known) composer Barry Leitch. New customization options allow you to upgrade your car’s performance and unlock cosmetic personalization items.

After you complete the World Tour, live service updates will keep the game fresh. A new Playground Mode will offer new challenges every two days, while the Tournament Mode features modified World Tour races. Both modes can played in split-screen multiplayer for up to four players.

Pure arcade racers are a rarity on modern platforms, so it’s great to see Horizon Chase 2 keeping this beloved genre alive while evolving it for new players.
