Despite being in Steam Early Access and far from completion, BeamNG Drive has come a long way since its initial release way back in 2013. Its soft-body deformation physics is unsurpassed, setting the standard for realistic damage modelling in driving games. Itās effectively a sandbox that lets you cause the most spectacular crashes possible.
As development continues, BeamNG Drive has received a substantial new update. As revealed in the BeamNG Drive Update v0.26 patch notes, the latest patch adds an updated car, new missions, a preview of the realistic hydraulics system, and much more to the car-smashing simulator.
Ibishu Covet gets a makeover
One of the main new additions is a remaster of the Ibishu Covet. The hot hatchback has been updated with a revamped 3D model, new textures, and an updated design. With almost 40 configurations, itās also now available in USDM and JDM versions, with the JDM featuring right-hand-drive, and unique trim levels and styling.
Furthermore, the Covet is the first car in BeamNG Drive to feature racing interior parts, openable doors, bonnet, and boot, an animated manual shifter, and a working odometer.
In addition, the update also adds support for motion blur to enhance the sense of speed, enhanced foliage in select maps, a new Chase mission type, a preview of a new realistic hydraulics system, performance enhancements, and much more.
For more details, you can check out the BeamNG Drive Update v0.26 patch notes below.
