EA Sports WRC Update 1.6 patch notes

Codemasters continues to support EA Sports WRC, with the latest patch update bringing a wealth of bug fixes and stability improvements. Update 1.6 builds on the last update, which significantly reduced the stuttering that plagued the game since its launch.

EA Sports WRC Update 1.6 out now

Out now on all platforms, EA Sports WRC update 1.6 primarily focuses on bug fixes and “preparatory work for future game updates.”

Further optimisation work has fixed several game crashes, while stages in Japan, Monte Carlo, Portugal, Sweden, and Kenya have been updated to “address a number of areas in which framerate would drop significantly.”

In addition, the update removes several corner-cutting exploits and adds support for the Turtle Beach VelocityOne Race Wheel.

VR for PC “still in development”

EA Sports WRC initially launched without VR support on PC. That’s set to change soon, as Codemasters announced last year that VR support will be added in a post-launch update this Spring. With Spring around the corner, players are eagerly awaiting news on the VR update.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Codemasters confirmed that “VR for PC is still in development” but didn’t hint at a release window. “When it's ready we'll say more,” the post reads.

As for console VR players, Codemasters has yet to confirm if EA Sports WRC will support PSVR2. Sadly, it seems unlikely given that Codemasters hasn’t offered VR support in a racing game since DIRT Rally on the original PSVR.
