Is Asphalt Legends Unite Open World?

Asphalt Legends Unite is getting closer each day, but will this new DLC expansion for Asphalt 9: Legends come with a new open world to explore?

Asphalt 9: Legends is one of the best arcade racing games on the market and it's expanded from being a mobile title to one on console and PC.

The DLC expansion Asphalt Legends Unite is the first post-launch expansion in series history. There are new cars to collect in this DLC, but what about a new and explorable world?

Asphalt Legends Unite Open World

Asphalt Legends Unite carries over a lot of features from the base game, including crossplay. Something that Asphalt: Legends is not is an open-world sandbox-style game.

Open-world games are very popular and they're becoming more popular in the racing video game genre too, thanks to the success of series such as Forza Horizon.

With Asphalt Legends Unite introducing a new UI, updated graphics, an updated garage, and a game mode, amongst other improvements, why can't there be a new open world to explore?

Hopes have been high of a new open-world being introduced to the game thanks to this DLC. This is partly because there's a new setting for Legends Unite in the form of Singapore.

So, will there be a new open world to explore in Singapore? Well, the answer isn't clear as of yet.

The possibility of an open world

Players have been asking developers Gameloft directly via social media if an open world will be in Asphalt Legends Unite. Surprisingly, Gameloft has responded to these queries, but hasn't given a definitive answer either way.

As shown in the Tweet below from March of this year, the developers didn't confirm or deny that there's going to be an open world in Asphalt Legends Unite.

However, we still haven't seen any confirmation of an open world to explore and this is something that more than likely would've received at least a mention in the latest release date trailer. With the release date so close at July 17, there isn't much time left.

This would be a revolutionary update and one that Gameloft would be foolish not to promote. So, at this stage, it's looking highly unlikely that there will be an open world in Asphalt Legends Unite.

This doesn't mean that an open world won't be added to Asphalt, but it's more likely to be Asphalt 10 at this stage than anything on Asphalt 9.
