Does Aiden Jackson return in F1 23?

One of F1 23’s new headline features is the welcome return of the Braking Point after the story mode was absent in F1 22. We know that Butler is back, but does Aiden Jackson return in F1 23 too?

Here’s everything we know so far about Aiden Jackson in F1 23.

Who is Aiden Jackson?

Aiden Jackson was first seen in F1 2021 as the playable protagonist in the first Braking Point. In F1 2021, the British driver becomes the Formula 2 champion before securing a drive with a Formula One team.

The story mode sees you work your way up the ranks, ending with Jackson negotiating a contract with Mercedes, Red Bull Racing, or Ferrari.

Unfortunately, it seems his dream of driving for one of the top F1 teams doesn’t work out.

Does Aiden Jackson return in F1 23?

The reveal trailer confirms that Aiden Jackson will return in F1 23.

Braking Point 2 sees Jackson join Konnersport Racing, the fictional 11th team on the grid. In a surprise twist, Jackson teams up with Devon Butler, the antagonist of F1 2021’s Braking Point.

As they were rivals in F1 2021, we’re curious to see how their relationship changes when they race together as teammates. Will we see a redemption arc for Butler or will there be tension between the two drivers? We're guessing the latter judging from the scenes shown in the trailer.

It’s not clear why, but Jackson didn’t get promoted to Mercedes, Red Bull Racing or Ferrari after all, crushing his dreams.

"Everyone thought Aiden was going to be signed by one of the big three,” a sly Butler says in a clip from a Drive to Survive-style interview in the trailer. We then see Jackson struggling to get to grips with Konnersport’s car, losing valuable points for the team.

Butler and Jackson will also be joined by a new character called Callie Mayer, Butler’s sister, who joins Konnersport Racing after becoming the first woman to win Formula 2. It’s not yet known if Mayer will be a playable character.

Real-life drivers Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen will also seemingly appear in Braking Point 2 in live action cut scenes.

F1 23 release date

We won’t have to wait long to find out if Jackson can take Konnersport to glory in Braking Point 2.

F1 23 races onto PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC via EA App, Epic Games Store and Steam on 16 June. This is a few weeks earlier than usual as Codemasters’ previous F1 games were released around late June or early July.

Those who pre-order the Champions Edition can start racing three days earlier on 13 June.

As well as the Braking Point story sequel, F1 23 also features improved handling, the new Las Vegas circuit, a new F1 World mode replacing F1 Life and the long-requested return of red flags.
