Despite Le Mans Ultimate releasing on Early Access, very little of the official WEC game has been shown aside from screenshots and short trailers.
This has now changed, with Studio 397 sharing nearly ten minutes of Le Mans Ultimate gameplay showcasing multiple classes being put through their paces at Sebring.
Le Mans Ultimate Sebring gameplay
Following the reveal of the Cadillac and Glickenhaus Hypercars, the extended Le Mans Ultimate gameplay video contains highlights from various videos shared on social media with multi-class cars hitting Sebring in day and night during a practice session.
Notably, this is the first time Le Mans Ultimate’s menus and HUD have been shown, giving us a better idea of the user experience. The footage shows the home menu screen with options for Race Weekend, Online, My Profile, and Settings.
We then get a look at the track selection, car class (Hypercar, LMP2, GTE), car selection, and event setting screens. The latter shows options for adjusting the event length and enabling tyre wear and fuel usage among other settings.
We’re then treated to onboard footage of the Cadillac V-Series.R being driven with a Fanatec CSL DD and CSL Elite Pedals V2. Fans have complained that the cars look too stiff in previous trailers, but that’s not the case here.
There’s a visceral sense of speed as the camera shakes around violently. Engine audio also sounds authentic, and we get to hear the spotter for the first time warning about tyre temperature changes.
We’ll reserve judgment on the driving physics until we get hands-on, but the Hypercars certainly look like a handful and engaging to drive.
Coming soon to Early Access
Overall, the latest Le Mans Ultimate gameplay showcase looks promising ahead of the Early Access release on February 20 and it’s a relief to see Studio 397 showcase some pure gameplay after months of secrecy.
At launch, Le Mans Ultimate will feature 12 cars across three classes with over 100 liveries but the 2024 season cars won’t be ready for launch. All tracks from the 2023 season will also be available at launch along with a race creator and ranked online multiplayer, but there’s no word yet on VR support.
