Ian Bell is best known for working on leading sim racing titles like GTR and Project CARS. Now, the former Slightly Mad Studios is helming a new project with his new company Straight4 Studios thatās set to revolutionize sim racing.
That project was initially known as GTRevival. As the name implies, it was set to be a reboot of the revered GTR series.
After months of radio silence from Straight4, the project now has a new name: say goodbye to GTRevival and hello to Project Motor Racing.
Project Motorsport to be published by Giants Software
Straight4 Studios has announced a new partnership with Swiss-based Giants Software, best known as the makers of the Farming Simulator series, to publish Project Motor Racing. Before, UK Plaion was set to publish the game when it was known as GTRevival.
āOur partnership with Giants is the last piece of the puzzle for the development of Project Motor Racing,ā says Ian Bell, CEO of Straight4 Studios. āItās fantastic news not only for our studio, but the sim racing genre as a whole. Those who are familiar with Giantsā best-selling franchise will recognize why this partnership is going to refresh the sim racing genre in ways that the community is going to love.ā
Project Motor Racing will boast a new āAI-driven physics engineā and ācutting-edge graphics.ā Other than that, details about the new racing simulation are scarce for now, with Straight4 confirming that Project Motor Racing is being āactively developedā for PC and consoles.
More details are expected to āfollow soon.ā No release date has been formally announced yet, though Ian Bell has previously confirmed on X that Straight4 is aiming for a 2025 release window.
Led by Ian Bell, the Straight4 team is made up of sim racing industry veterans from Slightly Mad Studios who worked on the GTR and Project CARS games, so Project Motor Racing has some serious pedigree behind it. Known for his bold statements, Bell has previously said his new sim racing game will boast āthe most acute and reactive physics ever delivered.ā
With Assetto Corsa Evo also approaching, an exciting new era of sim racing is about to begin.Ā
