Inertial Drift: Twilight Rivals Edition sliding onto PS5 and Xbox Series X

Released in 2020 and developed by Level 91 Entertainment, Inertial Drift is a stylish arcade racer with cel-shaded, anime-style visuals inspired by Initial D and unique drift mechanics. The music and track designs also have a hint of Ridge Racer Type 4, which the developer is clearly a huge fan of.

After the original Inertial Drift skidding onto PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, pQube has announced Inertial Drift: Twilight Rivals Edition, an enhanced version coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S with new content.

The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S version of Initial Drift will feature a new story mode based on a gang of drift racers known as the Twilight Rivals, which will present the toughest challenge yet. In addition, the Twilight Rivals Edition will include 24 cars with unique characteristics including hot hatchbacks, coupes, and supercars.

Inertial Drift uses a unique twin-stick control scheme for drifting.

14 demanding tracks will also test your precision driving skills as you hurtle down mountain passes and tear through neon-lit cities. Each track can also be played in reverse.

Thanks to the extra power of the current-gen consoles, players will be able to choose between a 4K graphics mode and a silk-smooth 120fps performance mode. A boxed version of Initial Drift: Twilight Rivals will also be released for PS5.

If you already own the original game on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch or don’t have a PS5 or Xbox One, the extra content will be released as DLC. The Twilight Rivals Pack includes the Twilight Rivals story mode, four tracks, four cars, and more.

What made Inertial Drift unique, fun, and challenging to play was its twin-stick control scheme. In Inertial drift, you use the left stick to steer and the right stick to control the angle of your drift.

This novel control scheme will carry over to the Twilight Rivals Edition. It takes a while to get used to, but once you do the drifting feels precise and satisfying.

Release date

Initial Drift: Twilight Rivals for PS5 and Xbox Series X and the Twilight Rivals Pack for PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One will be released later this year, but a release date is yet to be confirmed.
