Rennsport is confirmed to be a free-to-play racing simulator when the game receives its full launch.

Rennsport has been in the works for a long time, but its full release is getting closer all the time. This is especially apparent as the title's open beta is due to get underway this week.

We've speculated about whether Rennsport will be free-to-play before, but we now have confirmation from developers Teyon. Here's everything you need to know about Rennsport's free-to-play version.

Rennsport Free-to-play

In a recent article on the official Rennsport website, Teyon confirmed that Rennsport will be a free-to-play title when it launches sometime in 2025. So, what will be included in the free-to-play version?

Teyon has confirmed that most of Rennsport's tracks will be free. There will be some circuits that are classed as 'Premium', but which ones those will be isn't clear.

We'd wager that the tracks behind a paywall will be ones that haven't yet been confirmed for Rennsport.

On the car front, Teyon has stated that the free-to-play version will come with a GT3 car as well as free-to-drive cars that will be rotated. So, depending on the week or month, yoLIu'll be able to get in the cockpit of different vehicles.

The first batch of Premium content will be the Founder's Pack and details for what this will include will be confirmed at a later date.

More content which should be free to all as well are mods, which are now confirmed to be allowed within the Rennsport modding community on PC.

Those that love collecting cars as well will be happy with the confirmation that each in-game car will have its own unique electronic Vehicle Identification Number (eVIN).

In addition to the eVIN, mileage and the vehicle's record in competitions will be recorded to make the experience of car ownership in Rennsport even more realistic.

Why Going Free-to-Play is good

Free-to-play video games is a concept that is relatively new in the industry, but one that's gaining traction. Having a free-to-play base game with optional paid DLC is a system that has some benefits.

The biggest of these is that it costs absolutely nothing for players to try and decide if they want to download additional tracks and cars to their game.

Even if you only have a few extra circuits and cars, the cost of purchasing these is often cheaper than buying a full-price triple-A title, which can be approaching $90 / €90 / £80 in 2024!

When can I play Rennsport?

Rennsport has been in closed beta for a while, but the open beta is set to get underway on July 10.

The early-access release date hasn't been confirmed by developers Teyon, but there is a release window of Q4 in 2024. So, we can expect this sometime between October and December this year.
