The wait is finally over. SCS Software has officially confirmed that the massive Nordic Horizons expansion for Euro Truck Simulator 2 will release on November 27, 2025.
While the release date is the big headline, the real story is the map itself. This isn't just another grid of highways; it is a complete reimagining of what it means to drive in Europe's rugged north. We are talking about a map that stretches from the forests of southern Sweden all the way to the Arctic Ocean.
For the veteran trucker, this expansion poses a new question: With thousands of kilometers of new tarmac, where do you even start?
To help you plan your first logistics route, we have combed through the developer diaries and map previews to bring you the ultimate Day One itinerary. Here are the six stretches of road you need to experience the moment the DLC goes live.
The "Midnight Sun" Run to Nordkapp

If you are going to play Nordic Horizons, you might as well go for the crown jewel immediately. Nordkapp, or the North Cape, is the northernmost point of mainland Europe, and SCS Software has recreated it in stunning detail.
The drive here offers a unique phenomenon confirmed for this DLC: the Midnight Sun. Because the game is set in June and July, the sun never truly sets this far north. You will be hauling your rig up a dramatic cliff plateau standing 307 meters above the Barents Sea at 2:00 AM, with the sun still hovering above the horizon. It is a surreal, endurance-testing experience that every trucker needs to see.
Into the Earth at Kiruna

While most routes take you over mountains, this one takes you inside one. Located in Sweden's Norrland region, the city of Kiruna features the world’s largest underground iron ore mine.
SCS Software has built this as a massive custom depot that requires you to drive deep beneath the surface. This isn't just a quick drop-off; it is a complex network of subterranean tunnels that will test your spatial awareness like never before. You will need to follow specific internal signage to avoid getting lost in the dark, dusty depths of the mine. It is arguably the most unique industrial location ever added to the game.
Crossing the Hålogaland Bridge

Euro Truck Simulator 2 has plenty of bridges, but few rival the engineering majesty of Norway’s Hålogaland Bridge. Located along the E6, this suspension bridge spans 1,533 meters across the Rombaksfjorden.
Opened in real life in 2018, this is a modern marvel with massive 175-meter pylons. In the game, it serves as a vital link in the northern road network. Driving a heavy load across this structure offers a perfect mix of technical driving and sightseeing, with sweeping cables above you and the deep, blue fjord water below.
The "Alpine Village" Run to Åndalsnes

If you prefer narrow roads and steep slopes over wide open bridges, you need to set your GPS for western Norway, specifically the town of Åndalsnes.
Known as the "Alpine village by the fjord," this settlement is surrounded by vertical mountain walls. The blog posts from the developers hint at scenic routes starting here that will test your transmission and your patience. This area is defined by the dramatic contrast between the high, rocky peaks and the lush green valleys at the water's edge. It is the kind of terrain where you need to watch your mirrors constantly, as the roads twist through sparsely populated areas and campsites.
The Tunnel and Ferry Combo at Torrfjorden

The Nordic region is famous for how it conquers water. Sometimes you go over it. Sometimes you float across it. Sometimes you go under it.
For a true logistical challenge, look for routes involving Torrfjorden. Here, you will encounter the Tennfloget Tunnel, an 800-meter engineering feat that runs along the water beneath a hillside. But the road doesn't stop there. The expansion relies heavily on ferry crossings to connect these fractured landscapes. Towns like Skutvik offer charming coastal drives that end abruptly at a ferry terminal, adding a layer of strategy to your route planning.
Santa Claus Village in July

Finally, no trip to the north would be complete without a visit to Finland’s most famous resident. Rovaniemi is the official hometown of Santa Claus, and yes, SCS has included the world-famous Santa Claus Village.
Sitting directly on the Arctic Circle, this is one of the most unique depots you will ever visit. It features the iconic festive architecture you would expect, bringing a bit of Christmas cheer even in the height of summer.
Prepare for November 27
Whether you are in it for the technical challenge of narrow coastal roads or just want to verify that the sun really doesn't set, Nordic Horizons looks like a game-changer.
The expansion drops on November 27, 2025. Make sure your truck is serviced and the DLC is on your Steam Wishlist. We’ll see you on the road.
