Revised Tutorial, MotoGP Academy, and Adaptive Difficulty System
To help newcomers, MotoGP 22 features a revised tutorial. These short gameplay sessions have custom rules to help players understand the basics of the game.
The new MotoGP Academy will also teach players how to improve their riding style and post faster lap times. Challenges focus on electronics, tire consumption, brakes temperature and differences between the three main categories: MotoGP, Moto2, and Moto3.
A new Adaptive Difficulty System also guides players with pop-up messages offering tips on how to adjust the difficulty level to suit their skills. The game will recommend lowering the difficulty If players don’t complete specific challenges or fall off the bike.
If a player finishes a race with tyres in a bad condition, the game will recommend playing the tutorial dedicated to tyre consumption.
More realistic than ever before
MotoGP 22 will be more realistic than ever before, with new facial animations, improved 3D characters, and pits.
Using the Ride Height Device, players can manually manage the locking mechanism of the RHD and control the compression of the suspension. Tracks are also enhanced with better rideability and the suspension system is more reactive when riding over curbs.
In addition, slipstream now affects the tyre and brake temperatures for players and AI riders. The tyre deformation is also more realistic.
Managerial career
Managerial Career returns to MotoGP 22. This career mode allows players to create their own team or join a real one. You’ll manage every aspect of the team’s strategy, from bike development to hiring staff. The season can also be customised, allowing players to choose which Grand Prix they want to play from a different set of calendars.
Split screen
For the first time in the series, MotoGP 22 supports local two-player split-screen. Online multiplayer also features cross-play support on consoles from different generations.
For example, on PS5 you can race against PS4 players or race with Xbox One players on Xbox Series X|S.
Riders & Teams
As this is the official MotoGP game for the 2022 season, all of the riders and teams are fully licenced in-game. This includes the new champion Fabio Quartararo, who remains with the Monster Energy Yamaha team. MotoGP 22 includes over 120 official riders from the 2022 season.
Changes to the line-ups next year include Enea Bastianini moving to Gresini Racing, Franco Morbidelli being promoted to the Yamaha factory team and Maverick Viñales joining the new Aprilla team. Remy Gardner, Darryn Binder, Fabio Di Giannantonio, Marco Bezzecchi, and Raúl Fernández will also enter the series as rookies.
And of course, this will be the first MotoGP game in a very long time without the Great Valentino Rossi. However, Rossi will feature in the new (NINE) Season 2009 historic mode reliving the 2009 season. MotoGP 22 will also have over 70 historic riders and bikes.
Calendar
The 2021 MotoGP calendar was almost as disrupted as 2020.
The MotoGP 22 tracks should be pretty much back to normal though, as travel restrictions have eased to a reasonable level now. MotoGP 21 did include the original calendar and we'll be basing any changes from that rather than the final schedule we ended up with.
After being a "Reserve Grand Prix" for years, Indonesia got its first MotoGP round this year as the second race on the roster. This took place at the brand-new Mandalika International Street Circuit, so it'll be a challenge for Milestone to get this one in-game before launch day.
Aside from that, the calendar in 2022 is identical to the original for 2021. Our first round is Losail in Qatar, with the 21st and final race taking place in Valencia.
We also get Historical circuits to play on as well. These include Donington, Laguna Seca, Brno, Indianapolis and Estoril.
