Assetto Corsa 2 Suffers a Delay, Early Access Launch Confirmed

Assetto Corsa 2 is one of the most highly anticipated racing games of 2024. Little is known about the sequel, but Kunos Simulazioni has developed a stellar reputation in the sim racing community, so expectations are high.

Unfortunately, Assetto Corsa 2 has suffered a delay, so sim racers will have to wait a little longer to hit the track.

Assetto Corsa 2 delayed to Summer 2024

Originally set for a Spring 2024 release, Assetto Corsa 2 is delayed to Summer 2024, Kunos Simulazioni confirmed in a Digital Bros (the parent company of 505 Games and Kunos Simulazioni) press release. Kunos Simulazioni was aiming to release Assetto Corsa 2 within the next fiscal year ending July 2024, so it should arrive in June or July 2024. 

On PC, Assetto Corsa 2 (the final name is yet to be confirmed) will launch in Early Access on Steam in Summer 2024, with console versions following later. Notably, this is the first time a Steam Early Access launch has been confirmed, so the final release may not arrive until late 2024 or possibly 2025.

As for consoles, a Digital Bros financial report confirmed “long term” plans for an Assetto Corsa 2 console release, but no release window was announced.

So far, all we know about Assetto Corsa 2 is that it will run on a new in-house engine instead of Unreal Engine like in Assetto Corsa Compeitionze. With the Unreal Engine-powered EA Sports WRC plagued with performance issues on PC, this is probably a wise move.

While Assetto Corsa Competizione focuses exclusively on cars that compete in the GT World Challenge, we're expecting Assetto Corsa 2 to have a greater vehicle variety, with a mix of road and racecars like the original.

With Kunos Simulazioni targeting a Summer 2024 release, we expect Assetto Corsa 2 will be announced early next year with a trailer.

Nurburgring Nordschleife coming to Assetto Corsa Competizione

As for why Assetto Corsa 2 is delayed, Kunos Simulazioni is preparing to release Assetto Corsa Competizione's Season 2024 GT World Challenge DLC pack, which sees the highly requested Nurburgring Nordschleife join the track roster.

With the DLC pack set to release in Spring 2024, Assetto Corsa 2 has been pushed back to Summer 2024.

“The team at Kunos Simulations is completing the development of the new DLC for PC and consoles and, for that purpose, the next version of Assetto Corsa will be postponed. The Early Access on Steam for Assetto Corsa 2 is then scheduled for Summer 2024,” the announcement reads.
