Assetto Corsa Evo PS5: Will Asseto Corsa 2 be on PS5?

We've known that a new Assetto Corsa is on the way for a long time, and we now know that it's titled Assetto Corsa Evo. AC Evo has been confirmed to be initially launched on PC, but will it also be released on the PS5?

The spiritual successor to the original Assetto Corsa, AC Evo looks incredible and will go back to the series' original roots of focusing on road cars rather than high-end sports cars like we saw in Assetto Corsa Competizione.

Latest news: Assetto Corsa Steam Page Released

After the first Assetto Corsa Evo screenshot in June 2024, speculation was rife about where Assetto Corsa Evo was. Our prayers were answered soon after though, with the release of the game's official Steam page.

Not only did this give us our first official screenshots of the game, but it also gives us important information such as the minimum and recommended spec requirements for PC gamers.

There's also a confirmed release date of 2024, so AC Evo will land later this year. We'd wager towards the back end of the year to target the Christmas markets in November and December.

That's the PC release date, though, so what about the PS5 version of the game and has KUNOS confirmed that AC Evo will come to PlayStation?

Assetto Corsa Evo PS5

Digital Bros' financial report confirms that Assetto Corsa Evo is heading to consoles. If you look up information on AC Evo on PS5 aside from this, though, you'll be hard-pressed to find more information.

However, we can look to AC's previous titles to know what to expect for AC Evo. The original AC launched in 2014 on PC and made the jump to PS4 and Xbox One two years later in 2016.

Competizione was released for PC in 2019, with PS4 and Xbox One versions coming a year later in 2020. In 2022, ACC was also launched on PS5 and Series X|S.

Given how successful AC has been on PS4 and PS5, it'd make perfect sense for KUNOS to continue this trend by releasing Evo on the Sony home console.

On PS5, Assetto Corsa Evo should run in 4K resolution and 60fps, but Kunos has yet to confirm this.

A PS4 version is unlikely though, as Kunos will want to take full advantage of the current-gen consoles to deliver the best possible graphics and physics.

Sony is leading the console race this generation and the PS5 will still be popular for years to come. What is less certain, however, is the release date.

Release Date Prediction

While the PC version is slated for a 2024 release, the console versions of Assetto Corsa Evo are planned for the "long term." This implies the PS5 version will launch after the initial PC release.

The Steam page is available to view for the PC version of AC Evo, but there's nothing on the PlayStation Store yet, further alluding to a PS5 version being launched after the PC version.

As a result, we expect Assetto Corsa Evo to arrive on PS5 in either 2025 or early 2026.

New engine

Not much else is known about Assetto Corsa Evo at this stage. What we do know, however, is that Assetto Corsa Evo will be built on a brand-new in-house engine rather than Unreal Engine 5.

This was also the case for the original game but not Assetto Corsa Competizione, which utilizes Unreal Engine 4.

Will Assetto Corsa Evo rival Gran Turismo 7?

Assetto Corsa Evo will focus on road cars as well as thoroughbred racing cars.

This means the car roster will have more variety than Assetto Corsa Competizione, which only includes GT racing cars, allowing Assetto Corsa Evo to compete with Gran Turismo 7.

Kunos is a smaller team than Polyphony Digital, so we're not expecting Assetto Corsa Evo to match Gran Turismo 7's car and track numbers. But based on the Italian studio’s track record, Assetto Corsa Evo's driving physics will be best in class on consoles.
