Assetto Corsa 2 Xbox: Is AC2 coming to Xbox Series X|S?

With the announcement of the next Assetto Corsa title, many wondered how they were going to be able to play the game, be that on PC or a next-gen console.

Following the success of the first iteration, and Assetto Corsa Competizione afterwards, a third game was inevitable from 505 Games and Kunos Simulazioni. So, it's nice to have confirmation of the game being made right now.

So, is Assetto Corsa 2 coming to Xbox Series X|S? And if so, when can we expect to play it?

Latest news - Assetto Corsa 2 delayed to Summer 2024

Originally set for a Spring 2024 release, Assetto Corsa 2 has been pushed back until Summer 2024. This was confirmed in a press release by Digital Bros, the parent company of Kunos Simulazioni and 505 Games.

Kunos Simulazioni was aiming to release Assetto Corsa 2 within the next fiscal year ending July 2024. This means it should arrive in June or July 2024. 

Xbox players may have to wait longer to play Assetto Corsa 2, however. The Summer 2024 release window only applies to the PC Early Access release, so Assetto Corsa 2 may not come to Xbox until late 2024 or sometime in 2025.

The long-awaited sequel to Assetto Corsa is due to arrive in Summer 2024. This follows Assetto Corsa Competizione, which launched back in 2019 for PC and the following year on console. So could we see the same with AC2?

We were hoping both the PC and console versions of AC2 would release at the same time, considering it's been years since the game was first announced. However, it looks like console players will need to wait longer.

Xbox Series X|S release date

A recent financial report from Digital Bros (the parent company of developers Konus Simulazioni and publishers 505 Games) has confirmed that Assetto Corsa 2 will launch on consoles.

This seems like good news to players, however, there is some bad news too.

Those expecting the console version of the game to launch in 2024 may be disappointed. Assetto Corsa games usually arrive around a year after the initial PC release, we're expecting Assetto Corsa 2 to launch on Xbox in late 2024 or sometime in 2025.

Assetto Corsa 2 is expected to launch on Xbox Series X|S, but Xbox One players will likely miss out. It makes sense for the developers to focus development solely on current-gen hardware.

This will allow Kunos Simulazioni to add enhanced visuals and performance to Assetto Corsa 2. The power of the Xbox Series X|S will be almost unmatched compared to PC, allowing the game to run smoothly.
