Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is notorious for its island settings, long straights, and of course the Wall of Champions right at the end of the lap. With Montreal hard to master, you need the best setup possible.
Here's the ideal F1 23 Canada setup to help you conquer Montreal.
F1 23 Canada setup
Canada is one of the most popular circuits amongst F1 fans. The multiple long straights separated by chicanes make setting up the car very difficult, as you need to balance top-end speed with aerodynamic grip.
Just like the game itself, the setup for Canada has changed over time. We've updated our Canada setup to help you master Montreal.
We've set our wings to 23-24 around Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
This will give us good top speed for the straights whilst also providing downforce for the slow hairpin.
The transmission dictates how the rear wheels rotate in relation to each other. We’ve gone with 50% on-throttle differential and 50% off-throttle differential.
This will allow the differential to help turn the car. Just be careful getting the power down too early or you'll spin out.
Front camber should be set to -2.60 with the rear camber set at -1.00. This, like the transmission, will help throw the car into corners.
For toe, we've gone with 0.02 for the front, and 0.16 for the rear. This helps get the heat into the tyres without sacrificing straight-line speed.
We recommend 17-14 for the suspension and 7-2 for the anti-roll bar. This creates the flexibility to throw the car more into the fast transition.
Ride height is set to 33-36. This raises the rear to help generate downforce whilst raising the front to help you ride the final kerb.
100% brake pressure is the meta for F1 23, while 54% brake bias is a good balance between front and rear for Canada.
Locking up is less than ideal in Canada, especially with the barriers waiting to collect you. This brake balance should prevent the worst from happening, but feel free to play around with the balance if needed.
We suggest a front tyre pressure of 22.6 PSI, with a rear pressure of 20.2 PSI.
You may have to weave a little more to get heat into the rubber, but these pressures will keep the tyres intact for longer during races.
These setups are intended for intermediate players who may still be using assists like traction control and ABS. However, if you are looking for an extra edge then you can try a few of these adjustments:
- Decrease the wing levels by 1-3 clicks to improve top speed
- This will make the car less capable on turn-in and less stable in high-speed direction changes
- If the car doesn't feel like it is doing what you want on turn-in then raise the front wing a click or two
- If the car is too loose at low speeds try moving the off-throttle differential for more stability
- For a more "pointy" car stiffen the front suspension & anti-roll bar
- This will make getting traction trickier
- Don't be afraid to move brake bias during the lap. More frontward will give better performance in heavy braking zones, and a rearward for lighter braking zones
- Lockups are easier to achieve in F1 23 than previous games. Front locking is less catastrophic than rear locking, and which way you go from our mark will increase your chances of a lockup in that direction
- Add a click of tyre pressure for short online races to improve tyre warm-up!
