In an exciting announcement, Fanatec has partnered with Gran Turismo, with the aim of 'reducing the distinction between sim racing and real-world racing'.
We're yet to see exactly what this means for us as sim racing fans, but it sounds exciting.
So, let's take a look at this announcement now in greater detail!
Fanatec x Gran Turismo
The leading sim racing hardware company, Fanatec, has a long history of providing the community with the best wheels, pedals, and accessories for their setups.
After adding a budget Direct Drive wheel to this lineup, as well as slowly increasing console compatibility for many of their other wheels.
This has led to Fanatec truly standing out as the go-to brand for premium sim racing hardware. With Gran Turismo aptly referred to as 'The real driving simulator', this new partnership seems like a match made in heaven.
Naturally, this collaboration will lead to some new hardware for us, whether that be a wheel and pedal set, or another innovative product for the market.
Either way, this collaboration will bring some exciting new projects into the limelight that will improve the sim racing scene. Let's be honest, that can only ever be a good thing!
With the strong focus on bridging the gap between real-world racing and sim racing, this partnership could even take the form of a competition. As soon as we know anymore, we'll be sure to let you know!
Gran Turismo 7
When it comes to Polyphony Digital, the question still on everyone's lips is the release date of Gran Turismo 7, and when we can expect to play it.
The game currently has a scheduled release date of the first half of 2022, although we do hope that gets pushed closer.
After a recent open beta application appeared on the site, we may get hands-on with the game even earlier!
