Breaking from tradition, July saw a gap in Gran Turismo's usual monthly updates, leaving fans wondering when the next update will arrive. But now we have information from Polyphony on what to expect in Gran Turismo 7 update 1.36.

Polyphony has confirmed the next GT7 update will add four new cars as well as new GT Cafe Menu Books and a "Gran Turismo movie" experience.

Latest news - Gran Turismo 7 update 1.36 out now

Gran Turismo 7 update 1.36 is out now. As expected, the update adds four new cars, GT Cafe Menu Books, and World Circuit races, but there are a few other additions such as physics improvements and a new Used Car Dealership sales category. You can also claim a free gift car inspired by Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 in the Gran Turismo movie.

4 new cars revealed

Gran Turismo 7 1.36 was nowhere to be seen in July. This is the first time Polyphony has skipped a monthly GT7 update since January. However, after Kazunori Yamauchi finally his traditional silhouette tweet, Polyphony has revealed what we can expect in Gran Turismo 7 update 1.36.

GT7's August update will include four new cars. Making its Gran Turismo debut is the Maserati MC20, the Italian manufacturer's flagship sports car. Other cars included in the update are the Toyota GR Corolla MORIZO Edition '22, Chevrolet Corvette (C1) '58, and the Toyota Ambulance Himedic '21.

You won't be able to access the Toyota Ambulance Himedic immediately, though. GT7's first-ever ambulance will be added to Brand Central in late September or you can get it as a free reward by streaming the Gran Turismo World Series Nations Cup.

What can we expect in Gran Turismo update 1.36?

You can also race the Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 featured in the Gran Turismo movie. Update 1.36 will add a livery inspired by the movie car, which you can apply when purchasing the Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 '18 from Brand Central.

You can see the Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 in action on the big screen when the Gran Turismo movie hits cinemas on 9 August. Due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, the film is delayed in the US until 25 August.

Three Extra Menus will also be added to the GT Café:

  • [Extra Menu No. 26] Collection: Maserati (Collector Level 40 and above)
  • [Extra Menu No. 27] Collection: Aston Martin (Collector Level 44 and above)
  • [Extra Menu No. 28] Collection: Kei cars (Collector Level 27 and above)

Finally, a new Fire Station will be added to Scapes. It seems to be based on a real-life fire station in Fukuoka, Japan.

We were hoping update 1.36 will add at least one new track, but this is sadly not the case. It's disappointing as it's been a long time since a true new location arrived in GT7. There have also been rumours about Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, the location of the Canadian Grand Prix, coming into the game.
