When you want a realistic racing game, you have to look at simulators. Arcade racers are great, but when it comes to games that are realistic, sims are the way to go.

2022 had some great racing sims released, such as Gran Turismo 7, MotoGP 22 and WRC Generations, but what can we expect to top the subgenre next year?

Forza Motorsport

Forza is one of the best racing series out there. With the incredible Forza Horizon 5 still thrilling us, 2023 should be the year when we get to experience Forza Motorsport on PC and the Xbox Series X | S.

Forza Motorsport will likely be a reinvention of the series, as the usual number order has been ditched for the first time since the original game. This will also be the first Forza Motorsport game in six years, as 7 released in 2017.

Game Pass users can rejoice too, as Forza Motorsprot will be available from release day on the service. From what little we've seen from the announcement trailer and the screenshots so far, the graphics look incredible.

You can also bet your house on this being a very realistic game too, as Turn 10 have had over half a decade to work on things such as the physics model.

WRC 23

With the WRC licence going to Codemasters and EA next year, there are a lot of questions surrounding where the series will go. Something that isn't in doubt though, is that there will be a game next year.

This will be based around the 2023 World Rally Championship season and could be called WRC 23. It's possible that WRC 23 could launch as early as Spring 2023, if rumours are to be believed.

We don't know what approach Codies will have with WRC 23, but it's likely they'll continue the trend set by WRC Generations. That's one that has an emphasis on simulation and could be one of the most realistic games of 2023.

With so little time to the alleged release date, 23 will likely have a lot of the same mechanics as WRC Generations. Generations is one of the most realistic racing games of 2022, so 23 could keep this going next year.
