Forza Motorsport Release Date: Early access, editions, latest news & more
A new generation of consoles is here, but when will we be able to experience next-gen racing?
Forza Motorsport is the next iteration in the series many of us have grown to love, and as 2021 gets older, news has dried up.
With seemingly all eyes on Forza Horizon 5, there doesn’t appear to be much hope of even an early 2022 release for Forza Motorsport.
But when exactly can we expect Forza Motorsport to hit our shelves?
Latest news – Playtesting confirmed
The latest exciting news for fans of Forza is that playtesting has been confirmed.
That’s right, whilst it will initially be closed, it seem that parts of the game are ready for the community to play already.
If you want to get hands-on with the game early, you can apply to do so HERE.
Forza Motorsport release date
Announced as ‘in early stages of development’ in July 2020, the game currently has no official release date, although leaks suggested that the game was headed for February 2021 release.
That obviously never materialised, and neither has any further information beyond the odd playtest.
With a 2021 release totally off the table, and no hint of an announcement on the horizon, Forza Motorsport should be expected in October 2022 at the absolute earliest.
COVID-19’s effect on release
The game’s delays into 2022 or beyond is due in part to the restrictions from Coronavirus that have hampered all game development over the last 18 months.
There have also been reports of Turn 10 being pulled aside to assist with other Xbox titles, including Halo Infinite. That would explain the long gap between announcements and new reveals.
Most games release multiple editions, at least one of which has early access. Will Forza Motorsport be the same?
FM7 had early access with the Utlimate Edition, so we fully expect at least one edition of Forza Motorsport to offer a few days of early access, along with plenty of other bonuses!
